Contrast in Principles

“Honor to the Soldier, and Sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country's cause. Honor also to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field, and serves, as he best can, the same cause -- honor to him, only less than to him, who braves, for the common good, the storms of heaven and the storms of battle." --December 2, 1863 letter to George Opdyke and others- Abraham Lincoln

"So now you have narco, you know, drug lords, who are helping to finance the Taliban. So we've got to get the job done there. And that requires us to have enough troops that we're not just air raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous problems there." (Sen. Barack Obama, Remarks At Nashua, NH, 8/13/07)

September 8th 2009, Teach your children at home day

Maybe Tuesday would be a good day to keep your children at home. Spend some quality time teaching your children what is important about our country.

Do you want someone who surrounds himself
with radicals, teaching your child? Have you any doubt what Obama's plan and agenda is? Parents, you have a choice. M

Senator Tim Johnson (Dem) of South Dakota represents party line

Johnson in favor of a public health care option
Jonathan Ellis • jonellis@argusleader.com • August 19, 2009

"...Johnson also singled out Fox News, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and conservative media personalities Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck for stirring up "naysayers" who have disrupted political town halls across the country. Johnson said he has no plans to hold a town hall on the subject until the issue "blows by."

"They don't want answers," he said of the protesters. "They want to shut me down."
Johnson declined an invitation from Argus Leader publisher Randell Beck to participate in a forum with Sen. John Thune and Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin. While the vast majority of South Dakotans are polite, he said, others have called him a "Nazi" for supporting health reform.
"My staff tells me it is very ugly among a few South Dakotans," he said.

Tim Johnson is a real card. He voted no on the
first stimulus to get re-elected but when he was elected did he vote no on the Dem slush fund stimulus, what do you think? Pelosi gave him and the other Dems
up for re-election last fall a pass, now that he is in, party line all the way.
Now that he is in why talk to the people? He is a perfect example of what is
happening. M
Dakotafest Report – WOW.

I was just talking to someone who was there who gave me a great report on the Dakotafest forum. I’m kind of wishing I didn’t have work on my plate today. It sounds like this was one to remember.
What did they tell me? Basically Thune destroyed. As in John Thune was the rockstar of the Republican party that he is, and it sounds like Herseth Sandlin was the opening act that got light applause, and then was booed off the stage. The forum was about biofuels? Hardly. The reporters – not the people – came loaded to bear with questions on healthcare. Herseth apparently kept relying on Obamacare talking points, and no one was buying it.
My spy was speaking with SDGOP director Lucas Lentsch after noting how many familiar faces he saw in the audience, and asked him “did you guys send out a release on this for people to attend?” (And SDWC plug here…) Lucas replied “No, the only thing I saw on it was the note posted on Powers’ blog.”
It apparently drew a huge grassroots crowd with basically nothing other than being one of the rare occasions that people would get to question their Washington Reps.
I’m told that Thune got TONS of applause. And that laughter and booing thing that the Argus reported with Herseth? Yup – it happened.
My person said that this was one of those rare occasions when no one was buying the Herseth image. They were listening intently to what she said, and they weren’t buying it. No one cared that she said she was a blue dog.
Stay tuned for more on this – The media was there, and I’ve got to find a tape of this….

Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (SD) (Dem), Blue Dog Co-Chair for Administration (Blue Dogs) at least is showing up. But Senator Thune (Rep) is the one South Dakotan's are listening to. Smell the winds of change in 2010. M
